Beginning in September 2019, a couple at the Terraces of Phoenix challenged their fellow neighbors to raise the bar on their giving toward the community’s benevolence fund.
The challenge—for every dollar given by the end of November, the couple (who wish to remain anonymous) would match the final gift amount. That challenge was met with great enthusiasm and residents raised over $45,000 in donations. With the match, the total is now around $92,000. Also among those who gave, about 50 residents did so for the first time ever.
“This is the philanthropic power of two,” says Jeff Glaze, president of the HumanGood Foundation. “Amplifying the impact of a gift through a matching program encourages many to give as evidenced by the culture of giving at the Terraces of Phoenix.”
Glaze adds that HumanGood will match the community’s combined donation total, bringing the amount raised to over $184,000 for the benevolence fund.
As part of our mission, HumanGood seeks to create philanthropic opportunities that will help us enhance the lives of those we serve in our communities. There are times when a resident may outlive their financial resources and no longer have the means to pay the full amount of their monthly fees. The benevolence funds have been established to help those residents so they can remain in their homes.
